Acupuncture is a medical treatment system rooted in the application of small needles or pressure to specific points on the body. It originates from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is influenced by the philosophical teachings of Confucianism and Taoism. In this practice, health is believed to result from the balanced flow of "qi," or vital energy, which embodies the yin/yang duality present throughout the physical world. This approach explores the physiological mechanisms behind acupuncture's effectiveness and emphasizes the importance of collaboration among healthcare professionals in educating patients about pain management.

Acupuncture therapy is an ancient healing practice that originated in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves inserting thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points, to stimulate the body's natural healing processes. These points are located along pathways called meridians, which are believed to be channels through which vital energy, or "qi" (pronounced "chee"), flows. When this energy is disrupted or blocked, it can lead to pain, illness, or emotional imbalance. Acupuncture aims to restore the flow of qi, promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
