Sara is a Grief and Loss Practitioner with a background as a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) and a Certified Grief Educator and Coach, bringing over 17 years of diverse experience. Her approach to grief work is rooted in trauma-informed care, which prioritizes safety, empathy, and the importance of honoring each person’s unique journey through loss. Trauma-informed care, in Sara’s practice, means fostering a compassionate, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to navigate their pain at their own pace. Sara takes an integrative, holistic approach, addressing mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being through a blend of evidence-based modalities. She weaves together Talk Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness practices, allowing her to customize treatment to each client’s needs.
Although grief and loss are central to Sara’s work, she also offers guidance in navigating broader life transitions, finding meaning, and exploring personal growth. She recognizes that grief is deeply embedded into the fabric of our everyday lives, showing up in ways we might not always recognize. Her practice acknowledges both death and non-death losses, from the passing of loved ones to the losses that reshape our lives in different ways. Sara’s personal experience navigating chronic health challenges and non-death losses informs her deep empathy and skill in these areas. Sara is passionate about normalizing grief, breaking the stigma surrounding it, and empowering others to embrace their capacity for post-traumatic growth. She believes that even in the hardest moments, each person has the strength to cultivate resilience, reclaim their sense of self, and rebuild a life filled with renewed purpose and meaning. Her commitment to this work is reflected in her dedication to creating a world where grief has a voice, and where healing is always within reach.
Her eclectic approach ensures that clients experience a flexible and well-rounded support system, adapting as they grow and heal. With over a decade and a half of experience, Sara has worked in both clinical and community settings, including a hospital acute unit, where she developed strong communication skills and deepened her understanding of holding space for individuals in vulnerable moments. She also has experience working with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), where she supports clients and families navigating visual impairment diagnoses and the grief associated with non-death losses. This unique background gives Sara insight into the often-overlooked aspects of grief that arise fromlife transitions and chronic health conditions.
Sara specializes in working with women who are ready to rebuild life after loss, those who sense there’s more for them, even if they’re unsure of where to begin.
